The best route to JFK, LGA, and Newark Airports can be at your fingertips
The NY Metro area and Long Island are both populated areas. Which also means traffic close to 24/7. With all that going on, is there a best route to JFK, LGA, or Newark Airport? Well, that’s an easy answer, but not always an easy task.
Let me set the scene… While driving a client to Newark Airport one day last year, I saw traffic on all the websites I use to get my info for trips. There was a horrible multiple car accident and all the highways were backed up like crazy. Luckily I was already through the Lincoln Tunnel, but there was still another 17 miles of highway parking lot.
With a smile on my face and confidence in my town car, I begin to navigate the best route to Newark airport on that day. I veered off to some back roads and kept going. It was like a urban version of over the river and through the woods. I kept a steady pace and stayed the course.
It was then that my client looked up and asked what route I was taking. I replied, “I’m taking the best route to the airport.” He looked out the window and chuckled. He replied, “Roberto, you’ve taken me to the airport dozens of times, and you’ve never taken me this way.
This “best route.” It was then I held up my phone and said, “Let me show you the Waze!” Waze is app that will get you the best route to JFK, LGA, Newark Airport, or anywhere else around. Waze connects drivers in a community, so at the moment of traffic or a slow-down, you’ll know long before the news catches wind. How does it work? Here’s an excerpt from the Waze website:
“After typing in their destination address, users just drive with the app open on their phone to passively contribute traffic and other road data, but they can also take a more active role by sharing road reports on accidents, police traps, or any other hazards along the way, helping to give other users in the area a ‘heads-up’ about what’s to come. In addition to the local communities of drivers using the app, Waze is also home to an active community of online map editors who ensure that the data in their areas is as up-to-date as possible.” – From About Waze
Once I discovered Waze, I never worried about missing an airport pick-up or drop-off. My job got 200% easier and endlessly more efficient. Now whenever I get asked about the best route to JFK, I just show them the Waze!
Until Next Time!
